17 Georgian Films Return to Their Homeland

Supported by Ministry of Education and Science and together with the Georgian National Film Center, the process of returning Georgian film heritage from Russian film vault Gosfilmofond.

Currently, 17 Georgian Films are returning to Georgia. One of them is the film which was considered missing in the past years - the first independent film of Mikheil Kalatozishvili "Their Kingdom", which also is debut piece of work of the first Georgian film director, Nutsa Gogoberidze.
These films are screened in 1926-30 years. Because of the oldness, part of their rough materials are in a poor condition, which was the first priority in the process of choosing films. In 1920s approximately 200 films are created, in Russian "Gosfilmofond" 54 films are kept. Every piece is founded in the base of "Sakhkinmretsvi".

The process of returning film heritage in their homeland will continue also in 2020, the priority will be 1920s films.
