Wolt HQ official statement
We would like to express our full support and trust to the Wolt team in Georgia. This team has been working with us since 2018, and it is thanks to them that Wolt Georgia is one of the most successful representations of our brand.
During these weeks, we’ve faced some challenges - including protests by some unsatisfied courier partners. As a Finland-based company, with Nordic values, we have full respect for everyone’s right to voice their opinion. Unfortunately, there’s been some incidents where our employees and partners have been treated unfairly – including insults, the spreading of rumors and false facts, and preventing courier partners from completing their tasks. This is not in any way acceptable, and we will not allow people on our platform to make anyone feel unsafe.
The Wolt team in Georgia has repeatedly invited partners to meet with us to have a constructive dialogue. That invitation is still open. Without dialogue it is impossible to find solutions. We hope the unsatisfied partners engage in constructive conversations with us. We will continue hosting regular weekly meeting for our partners (every Wednesday).
We would also like to point out that the recently rolled out updates to the Partner App are part of a global refresh that is being implemented in all Wolt countries, and we will not be going back to the old version. We will also not be making changes to the local team and management.
Wolt launched in Georgia almost 5 years ago, back in May 2018 and was the 10th country we opened in. Georgia is an important country for us - and through the past years we’ve built a good partnership with our local merchant and courier partners, and we have hundreds of thousands of loyal customers. During this period, Wolt has never reduced the fee of the couriers. Last year, Wolt paid our partners close to 32 million GEL, making a significant contribution to the local economy in our 5 cities in the country.
Average hourly earnings in the past years:
2020-6.61GEL
2021-7.49GEL
2022-9.77GEL
2023-11.1GEL (Period of 01.01.2023-03.03.2023)
We hope that protesting couriers will express their will for a constructive dialogue and their ongoing problems will be discussed with Wolt Georgia management.
