Vani Nuts Reports Drop in Hazelnut Harvest
Makhare Lemonzhava, founder of Georgian hazelnut exporting company "Vani Nuts," reported a drop in both the quality and quantity of last year's hazelnut harvest, leading to a decrease in price.
The reduced demand from European countries, mainly Italy, resulted in a drop in exports from 900 tons to 440 tons.
Currently, the price for 1 kg of hazelnuts ranges between GEL 12-13.
Lemonzhava expressed hope that the government will continue to support the nut industry. "Vani Nuts" is one of the largest hazelnut exporting companies in Georgia and employs 30 people.
