UMALI to Launch Production of Fish Chips and Paste

UMALI fish products manufacturing company plans to launch production of fish chips in August and fish paste in September 2021.

As noted by the company’s executive director Dito Tsverava, the chips will be sold in 60-gram packages, while fish paste will be sold in 80-100-gram polyethylene packages. As for prices, details will be specified and publicized later, after completion of the calculation process.

Initially, UMALI fish chips and paste will be sold at Ori Nabiji (Two Steps) network. Later, the products will be also introduced to other trading networks, Tsverava said. The plant is located in Kareli District. The company has invested approximately GEL 1 million in business development. UMALI launched its operation in 2017.

The company is the beneficiary of the state program, for funding agriculture products processing and storehouse complexes. Total investments in this business amounted to $1.5 million, including grants constituted $249,081 and preferential agro credits amounted to $311,352. UMALI’s daily output makes up 2.5 tons. Production scales depends on seasonal peculiarities and output falls in the summer period.
