Tether Backs Georgia's Academy of Digital Industries with Investment
Tether, the issuer of USDt, the world's largest stablecoin by market value, has announced an investment in the Georgian Academy of Digital Industries. According to a statement released to BMG, Tether intends to provide long-term financial support to the Academy.
This investment will enable the expansion of the Academy's course portfolio and restructure the company based on a global development strategy.
Paolo Ardoino, Tether's director, expressed his enthusiasm about the investment, emphasizing the shared vision of bridging gaps in information, technology, payments, and communications globally. "At Tether, we are staunch believers in the freedom of finance, communication, and education. Quality, accessible, and unbiased education forms a crucial foundation for humanity's future," Ardoino stated.
This investment follows Tether's July 2023 investment in the Georgian crypto payment company CityPay.io, which was valued at $15 million post-investment.
For context, Tether's stablecoin is the third-largest cryptocurrency globally by market capitalization, following Bitcoin and Ether. As of today, USDT's market capitalization exceeds $91 billion.
