Ten Largest Investor Companies in Georgia

Geostat published a new report on foreign direct investments today. According to the document, in the second quarter of 2022, foreign investors invested $351.8 million in FDI in the country. This is 9.1% more than the previous year.

Geostat shared a list of the companies in which it invested the most in the second quarter. According to statistics, this list includes companies operating in energy, finance, logistics, real estate, trade, and other sectors.

In total, investors invested $923 million in the first half of the year, which is 102% more than the previous year. The increase mainly comes from the results of the first quarter, this increase was mainly due to one transaction, namely the purchase of GWP by the Spanish company Aqualia for $196 million. However, no other deals of this magnitude took place in the second quarter.

According to Geostat, the largest part of the investments comes from reinvestments, namely, $240 million of the 352 million FDI in the second quarter was reinvestment.

In the second quarter of 2022, the largest direct foreign investment was made in the energy sector and amounted to 76.6 million. USD, which is 21.8 percent of the total foreign direct investments. The second place is occupied by the real estate sector - with 75.6 million US dollars (21.5 percent), and the third place is the financial sector with 47.6 million US dollars (13.5 percent).
