Tegeta Holding, a Georgian company and official distributor of the German brand MAN, has successfully supplied modern buses to Yerevan as part of an international tender. These efforts are part of the transport reform in Armenia's capital, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Over a million residents of Yerevan are now served by MAN brand buses, offering a new standard of service and becoming an integral component of the city's transport overhaul. The MAN Lion's City 12C type buses, totaling 87 units, are now operational on Yerevan's primary transport routes.
Vazgen Arutinian, Head of Yerevan Transport Service, expressed gratitude for the significant improvements brought about through cooperation with Tegeta: "Our citizens now enjoy European standard, comfortable transportation. The MAN Lion's City 12C buses are environmentally friendly and contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. Tegeta offered us quality, modern buses at an affordable price and even delivered ahead of schedule. We look forward to further enhancing our transport system and deepening our collaboration with Tegeta."
These eco-friendly buses, powered by natural gas (CNG), accommodate 94 passengers and are designed with modern aesthetics, safety, and accessibility for the disabled. Tegeta's contract with Yerevan City Hall also includes post-operation service for these buses, ensuring their maintenance to German standards.
Irakli Papiashvili, director of strategic business direction at Tegeta Holding, highlighted the significance of this international tender: "This marks our first international public transport tender, showcasing our ability to meet the EBRD's rigorous standards. We delivered on the €25 million tender ahead of schedule. Our experience and global partnerships make us competitive across the region, as demonstrated by the Yerevan municipal transport tender."
Tegeta, with 28 years of experience in developing municipal transport in the region, has supplied approximately 500 modern MAN and other European brand buses to Georgian municipalities since 2016. They are currently set to deliver 160 new 18-meter MAN buses to Tbilisi.
Tegeta Truck & Bus, part of Tegeta Holding, has been an official distributor for MAN TRUCK & BUS in Georgia since 2006. The service center meets MAN's stringent requirements, and the holding plans to build a new, comprehensive service center to MAN standards.
