Soso Galumashvili: Axis Towers will Promote the Development of Mice Tourism in Tbilisi

Soso Galumashvili, the Senior Consultant at Gepra, assesses the importance of opening the Axis Towers multifunctional development project in Tbilisi, Vake, and says that Axis Towers has established a new center of attraction in Tbilisi, which is very important.

"In fact, we can say that the megalopolis, which Tbilisi is becoming, no longer has one center, but it consists of several centers. This is very important in terms of urban development. For me, this is an important priority as a resident of this city.

In addition, the Axis Towers have become a landmark for the city, which is sure to be among the sights of the city.

"If we take the Soviet-era Tbilisi, then the tower and the monument to Vakhtang Gorgasali were mainly presented against the background of Metekhi. Nowadays, several landmarks were added to it, and one of them is already Axis Towers. This is an interesting move in terms of the development and presentation of the city," Galumashvili said at Business Partner.

As the senior consultant of Gepra explains, Axis Towers will be attractive not only for tourists but also for the residents of Tbilisi, because the benefits that this project offers to customers will be a very important center of entertainment, which Tbilisi is not spoiled.

"The turning point is that things like this were done in the old districts of Tbilisi, therefore, it had a more classic character. Today we saw that the modernity of Axis Towers is in line with the traditions that characterize Tbilisi. It is very visible both in the architecture and in the interior.

The building combines the emphasis of Vake development and creates an ensemble, which Tbilisi needed and was lacking, ”said Galumashvili.

As Galumashvili notes, Axis Towers will significantly contribute to the development of business tourism (so-called Mice Tourism) in Tbilisi.

"There was no space for large-scale conferences and symposiums in the capital. In this case, the correct calculation was made to create a place for a large number of people. Axis Towers will allow us to hold large-scale events," Galumashvili said.

Axis Towers, which opened on June 16, is an entirely Georgian project. The author, architect, and developer of the idea is Alexander Mezevidze. Its construction resumed in 2015 with the support of the Co-Investment Fund.
