Sommet de l'élevage – Georgian-French Investment Opens Farm in Dmanisi

Located in the village of Zemo Karabulakhi, Dmanisi Municipality, Sommet de l'élevage, the modern cattle farm built with Georgia-French investments, holds 300 livestock.

The French Salers cows are adapted to the Georgian natural conditions very well and are a very productive breed. As noted by the farm founder Jack Flogue, this project could not be implemented without the government’s support.

“To be frank, I would not have invested in this project without the government’s support and the agro loan, because this is a long-term process and it is very difficult to turn a profit and achieve desirable results. We had to improve the soil conditions and clean it from stones and this is a very hardworking and expensive job. We could not perform this work without the government’s support. The Ministry and FAO have provided effective support.

The project is open for every interested person to see”, Jack Flogue said. As noted by the Deputy Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection, the farm financed with an agro loan of GEL 6 million represents a new word in the Georgian rural industry. “If improved and cared for, our grasslands are capable of feeding three and four times more livestock. I congratulate the farm owners on having built this new complex and I wish all success to them”, Giorgi Khanishvili said. Both Georgian and French specialists care for the farm development – veterinary experts, nutritionists, and technicians.
