Salome Jashi's Documentary to be in the Main Competition of the Cinéma du Réel

A documentary of Salome Jashi "Taming the Garden" will be screened in the main competition of the international film festival Cinéma du Réel.

"Taming the Garden" is a co-production of Switzerland, Germany, and Georgia. The world premiere of the film was held at Sundance International Film Festival. Later, the film was chosen in the section of the Berlin International Film Festival, "Forum".

Currently, 21 films are participating in the competition of the 2020 edition of Cinéma du Réel.

In 1979, the Bibliothèque publique d’information (Public information library) created Cinéma du réel, an international festival for ethnographic and sociological films, at the Centre Pompidou, with support from the C.N.R.S. (French national center for research) and the Comité du film ethnographique (Ethnographic film committee), in order to promote documentary cinema.

The festival mixes documentaries, essays and experimental films in selections that reflect a diversity of genres and different forms of cinematic approach to the world. It has become one of the rare festivals to highlight heritage films and look back at the different genres, but at the same time it also creates a dialogue between these and contemporary creation.
