RMG Hosts Members of World Academy of Mining Sciences during Georgia Visit

On April 29, representatives of the mining sciences academies of Georgia and the world visited the production area of RMG. This was part of their visit to attend meetings of the Supreme Council of the World Academy of Mining Sciences, which was held at the Grigol Tsulukidze Mining Institute from April 27-30. The guests included members of the presidium of the world and Georgian academies in this field.

The World Academy of Mining Sciences was established recently and is focused on sharing existing practices in the field of geology and solving various complex projects and issues. The academy unites representatives of mining sciences from different countries, with the first session held in Tbilisi. In addition, the Academy of Mining Sciences of Georgia was also formed, with leading Georgian mining scientists being appointed.

During the visit to RMG, Executive Director Joni Shubitidze informed the guests about the specifics of the mineral region of Kvemo Kartli, the company's approaches, and future plans. After the presentation, an introductory tour of the company's territory was organized.

Shubitidze expressed his pleasure at the guests' interest in learning about RMG's processes and how the company utilizes new technologies. He also noted that the creation of the academy will be a new driving force for all institutions involved in mining-geological activities to unite and exchange ideas and experiences with each other, to share practices, advice, and consultations in the technological, processing, geological, or scientific study.

RMG's copper beneficiation factory, which has been processing ore in the Bolnisi region since 1975, was renovated in 2022 as part of the infrastructure modernization project and was put into operation in the first quarter of 2023.

During the ceremony, Joni Shubitidze was presented with a certificate of honorary membership of the Georgian Mining Scientific Academy.

The visit by the members of the World Academy of Mining Sciences highlights the importance of the mining industry in Georgia and the country's rich history in mining technologies and sciences. It also serves as a catalyst for knowledge-sharing and collaboration in the field, which is vital for the continued development of the industry.
