Organic Products Market Witnesses Steady Growth, Reveals Elkana Director Mariam Jorjadze

The organic products sector is witnessing a growing interest in both local and global markets, with its prices considerably outpacing conventional counterparts, stated Mariam Jorjadze, Director of the Association of Biological Farms "Elkana". She relayed these insights during a conversation with "Agropartner".

"Organic production is a vital segment within agriculture. It is the only market that is witnessing a consistent upward trajectory, even as others are declining. The premium prices offer our farmers an opportunity for greater income through exports," asserted Jorjadze.

She pointed out that the price disparity between organically grown nuts and those produced via traditional methods can amount to a dollar. Jorjadze believes that this gap could widen further in the future.

"Looking ahead, we anticipate that the price difference might increase even more. Naturally, this will be in tandem with improvements in quality," Jorjadze shared.

For context, the global demand for organic products is increasing in tandem with the area of land allocated to organic production. The most recent statistics reveal that retail sales of organic products have crossed the €125 billion mark, with North America and Europe emerging as the largest markets.
