Open Net’s Director Appointed as Special Manager in Caucasus Online

The Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) has appointed Mariam Sulaberidze as a special manager in Caucasus Online.

The monthly salary of the special manager is GEL 8,000. For information: Mariam Sulaberidze was appointed as a director of state-owned non-commercial legal entity Open Net in July 2020.

Before, she has worked as the director of GNCC Department for International Relations and Projects Management. As noted by the GNCC director Kakha Bekauri, the temporary manager has been appointed, because the penalty sanctions imposed on Caucasus Online have brought no results and it would not be a reasonable decision to suspend the company’s operation.

As reported, at the August 20 meeting, the GNCC imposed a new fine of GEL 270,000 on Caucasus Online and set a one-month timeframe for abolishing the deal, under which the 49% stake of the company was transmitted to NEQSOL holding.

At the same time, Caucasus Online was warned that failing to fulfill the GNCC requests within a month would result in other sanctions. The one-month timeframe has passed and Caucasus Online has not satisfied the regulator’s demands.
