Negotiations Between Georgia and Turkey on Expanding a Free Trade Agreement are Underway

Negotiations on expanding a Free Trade Agreement with Turkey are underway.

According to the Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey, Mustafa Tuzcu, the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and Turkey currently applies only to products.

"We are trying to add other areas to it so that it includes more agricultural products.", noted Mustafa Tuzcu.

He also mentioned that trade turnover between these two countries should expand to $3 billion. Georgian party made a request to add honey, various animal products to the free trade agreement, in which direction the quotas will be set. These are the matters that are under discussion.

The aforementioned Free Trade Agreement was formed between Georgia and Turkey in 2007.
