Most in Demand Professions in Georgia

More than 1/3 of Georgia's employees are in the trade and service sectors, - the Ministry of Economy has released a new Labor Market Survey.

Demand for technicians (22.2%), specialists (15.4%) and office support staff (13.9%) is high. Store consultants (12,453), waiters (1,569), security staff (1,532), sales officers (1,391) and cooks (1,099).

 Of the core group of technicians and specialists, 72.2% are in business and administration, with numerous commercial sales representatives (5,237), credit loan officers (1,720), office supervisors (1,628) and insurance (846).

Like the core group of technicians and auxiliary specialists, business and administration specialists (39.4%) are leading, due to a large number of vacancies in accounting (2 457).

 There is a high demand for accountants, who in some cases are employed in more than one job, and the demand for them increases with the establishment of legal entities.

Featured in a variety of vacancies from Business and Administration Specialists are: Public Relations Specialists (534), Personnel and Career Promotion Specialists (390), and Financial Analysts (226). Most of the healthcare professionals are pharmacists (330). In addition, there is a high demand for specialist medical practitioners (230).

Demand is high for software developers (902), database designers (131) and computer software and application development specialists (72). 

The vacancies for managerial positions are 2.5% of the total, with almost half coming from administrative and commercial managers (49.2%). In particular, there is a widespread demand for financial managers (267), whose functions include planning, managing and coordinating the financial activities of an enterprise.

Managerial positions are also in demand for restaurant (227) and hotel (94) managers, which is explained by the recent trend of tourism industry development in the country, growth of international visitors and direct investment, which was 6.2% for Geostat 2018.
