More Than 10 Million Invested in Pig Farm Set to Open in Kaspi

A new farm of pigs equipped with the latest German technologies "New Farm" will be opened in Kaspi. The investment exceeds 10 million GEL. The project is implemented on an area of 100 hectares, and the building will be arranged on 9,000 square meters.

As Tengiz Kandelaki, the founder of the company "New Farm", told bm.ge, the construction of a pig farm for 400 mother pigs will be completed in about three months and 10,000 pigs will be raised annually.

According to him, as soon as the construction is completed, the first plantations will be introduced on the farm for propagation, and they will receive the product next year.

The new farm will employ 35 people, most of whom will be foreign specialists.

It should be noted that in the future a slaughterhouse will be arranged on the spot and the number of mother pigs on the farm will increase to 800.

"It will be a 400-mother pig farm that will raise 10,000 pigs a year. Construction of the farm will be completed in three to four months. It is difficult to say the exact investment, but it exceeds 10 million GEL. We will be able to receive the product next year. Sales will not be a problem as the meat is in short supply. We will focus on network markets, but we will not rule out opening our own facilities.

The main problem we face in this sector is the shortage of professional staff. For 30 years, this field has been artificially destroyed, therefore, there are no professionals left, so from the technology to the veterinarian - the main staff is brought from abroad. We will also employ young people after the relevant training.

In the future, we will increase the number of mother pigs to 800. We will also arrange a slaughterhouse on the spot," said Tengiz Kandelaki.
