MALDI – Georgian Brand of Handmade Leather Bags

MALDI handmade leather bags company was established amid the pandemic. As noted by the company founder Maka Chkhaidze, the product has deserved much approval among clients.

“The idea of doing this business arose after I learned treating leather materials. In December 2020, I introduced my works to clients. I do not use a sewing machine in the process of creating accessories. I prepare all details myself by hand. It takes approximately 3-5 days to create one bag. I preferably use Georgian natural leather, rarely Turkish leather. Despite the pandemic challenges, the demand for my products keeps growing, especially for bags. MALDI’s diverse and exclusive design stressed its uniqueness. We try to maintain affordable prices for all categories of customers. As for individual orders, prices depend on the complexity of works”, Maka Khachidze said.

At this stage, MALDI products are sold only on the Facebook platform, as well as on the international platform of ETSY.com. The project was implemented by private investments. The company founder plans to arrange her own workshop by obtaining a government grant.
