Levan Davitashvili: Viber's Tbilisi Office will be Responsible for Development of Viber's Global Platform

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili met with the CEO of RakutenViber, Ofir Eyal to discuss the activities of the International Technology Company in Georgia, - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reports.

According to them, the company RakutenViber, which is a global leader in the field of private and secure messaging and voice communication, entered the Georgian market and opened an operational office in Tbilisi, which will be focused on the development of mobile applications.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili and Director of the Innovation Ada Technology Agency Avtandil Kasradze.

At the meeting, Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili welcomed the decision of the global company to develop the product in Georgia.

According to him, the opening of the company's operational office in Tbilisi is a good opportunity for local IT engineers to work in a global company such as RakutenViber. In addition, he said, this fact is a remarkable message to other global technology companies about the business and investment environment in Georgia. According to him, the entry of a brand of this scale and awareness in Georgia will be a new incentive for actors and individuals interested in the development of high-tech business in the country, especially for IT specialists.

It was noted that the Tbilisi team of RakutenViber, among other areas, will work to refine and develop software compatible with iOS and Android systems and improve the quality of software.

The global company is cooperating with the Government of Georgia in order to be granted the status of an international company defined by the legislation of Georgia.
