Georgian Snails Go to Europe, Asia and USA

Snail meat production has been growing in Georgia over the past few years. As noted by the field specialists, Georgia’s climate and soil conditions ideally fit the sail breeding business.

Snail is a unique product in terms of sales because all parts of a snail are used in production: farming, food; shell is used in body care products. Snail meat comprises unique properties with the lowest fat and abundant protein. Therefore, snail meat is a very useful product for people with special dietary regimes. Snail eggs are also very popular in Georgia, while snail mucus is widely used in cosmetics.

“I started working in Georgia in 2018 to explore the domestic climate and soil. Then, we conducted training and trained the staff; now, we have already received specific results and we have opened our branch in this country. We call our business a self-renewable economy. It was very important to attain this system. We have used special technologies and machinery to ensure the right strategy in snail production because our key objective is to treat the living body with respect. It is also important for us to share the knowledge and experience to interested persons”, Simone Sampo, President of Cherasco Heliciculture International Institute noted. Several countries have already expressed serious interest in Georgia’s snail production. We export our product to Italy, Spain, Greece, Russia, China, Indonesia, Japan, and the USA, he said.
