Georgian Chess Against COVID-19

Due to the initiative by the Georgian Chess Federation, the charitable marathon "Georgian Chess Against Coronavirus" started on April 11th.

One can donate at least 100 Lari to the StopCov fund and then challenge Georgian legendary chess-players such as Nona Gaprindashvili, Maia Chiburdanidze, Nana Aleksandria, Nana Ioseliani, Nino Gurieli, etc.

As a result of the marathon, they already gathered more than 10,000 Lari for donation within ten days.

As president of Chess Federation - Gia Giorgadze noted, the marathon will be continued.

"Approximately 20 people are participating in this campaign, which is pleasing. We gathered more than 10,000 Lari and already donated it to the StopCov Fund. 100 Lari was sufficient for amateur players to challenge professional chess-players. Many of them paid more than 100 Lari. The most important part is a charity and I want to thank every one of them. According to the primary plan, marathon should have been finished today, but according to the demand, we will not limit ourselves. The campaign will continue and we will pleasantly organize additional charitable matches.", stated Gia Giorgadze.
