Georgia Purchases $43.1 Million Worth of Sugar in 9 Months

In the first 9 months of 2021, Georgia purchased 88,154.1 tons of sugar, for which $43.1 million was exported.

According to an official data, the value of the purchased product is 15.9% higher compared to the same period last year. However, 16.1% less sugar was imported with the same price, compared to 9 months of 2020. Therefore, the price of sugar has increased significantly compared to the previous year.

The price for sugar is increased in almost every major market. 

The largest TOP-10 sugar import market is as follows:

1. Brazil - $19.5 million, 41,200 tons;
2. Turkey - $9.3 million, 18 476 tons;
3. Poland - $7 million, 13 507 tons;
4. Mexico - $3.9 million, 9 000 tons;
5. Germany - $1.3 million, 2 402 tons;
6. France - $989.3 thousand, 1 876 tons;
7. Netherlands - $608.2thousand, 1 272 tons;
8. Belarus - $101.6 thousand, 174.7 tons;
9. Ukraine - $59.5 thousand, 32.3 tons;
10. Columbia - $59.2 thousand, 100 tons.
