Federation of Restaurants: about 30% of Restaurants will not open
“The sector is facing a heavy period and about 30% of restaurants cannot open”, Shota Burjanadze, president of the Association of Restaurants told the Business Course TV Program. Without growing demand of clients, about 20% of the restaurants will be bankrupt, he added.
“Indeed, the sector cannot be as active as in 2019. We expect about 50% recovery. Below this figure the sector will bear serious losses”, he noted.
We have communicated with Mariam Kvrivishvili, head of the National Tourism Administration and we think the introduced regulations are adequate to the existing circumstances, Shota Burjanadze noted.
“The current trends show that cafes may resume operation much earlier than the 8th of June, as announced. Today the situation is under control”, Shota Burjanadze noted.
“I think, based on the current situation, there is no much difference between indoor and outdoor spaces. However, I cannot make decisions myself. We are cautious. We do not want to burden the reality excessively, because if the new problems arise, nobody knows how long restaurants will be closed”, Shota Burjanadze pointed out.
We remind you that the Association of Georgian Gastronomy has published the guidelines that restaurants should follow, including preliminary booking of tables, thermal screening, cashless payments and so on.
