Construction Works of Two Tunnels to Launch on of Rikoti Pass Road

2 new tunnels have been cut in the section of Rikoti Pass Road, Shorapani-Argveta. 

Within the frameworks of the project, the construction of bridges and tunnels will continue simultaneously. In the section of Ubisa-Shorapani, a 13 km road, 27 bridges, and 18 tunnels will be built. In total, Rikoti Pass Road will include 30 tunnels and 39 bridges.

"It is worth mentioning, that the first 180-meter tunnel was built on the section of Khevi-Ubisa, near the village Khevi.

It is planned to construct 51,6 km road on Rikoti Pass Road, which will involve 96 bridges and 53 tunnels. The building process of Rikoti Pass Road is divided into 4 sections.

In total, the Rikoti Pass Road will reduce the distance by 30 km while finishing the East-West Corridor, and it will halve the travel time. 

If now the Red-Bridge - Sarpi road needs 8 hours, it will need 4-4.5 hours in total.", declares Roads Department.
