Bolnisi Local Wine Festival 2024

On June 2, at 12:00, the Bolnisi Local Wine Festival will be held in the old German quarter of Bolnisi. The event, under the slogan "Bolnisi - Golden Wine City," celebrates the region's rich wine heritage.

This is the second time Georgia hosts a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) wine festival, an important indicator of a wine's unique characteristics and quality. The festival aims to promote and raise awareness of the PDO mark among winemakers.

At the Bolnisi Wine Festival, wines with Protected Designation of Origin from 50 large producers and small family wineries from various parts of Georgia will be showcased.

In the lead-up to the festival, on May 28, a wine competition was held at the Georgian-German Wine House of Bolnisi to recognize the best wines from protected origins. A jury comprising international experts, oenologists, and winemakers from six regions of Georgia (Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Imereti, Kakheti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Samegrelo) tasted 87 wine samples from 21 protected designations of origin. The winners of the grand gold, gold, and silver medals will be ceremoniously announced at the festival on June 2.

The festival will feature musical performances by the trio "Alilo" and the quartet "Ranina." Various raffles and educational activities will be held throughout the day.

The event is presented by RMG, with support from the "Ghvino Bolnisi" winegrowers' union, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, the National Wine Agency, Bolnisi Municipality City Hall, Bolnisi Agrocenter, and Sakpatenti.

In 2022, RMG officially joined the UN Global Compact and became a member of the Global Compact Georgia Network. All of the company's major corporate responsibility projects align with sustainable development goals. The Bolnisi winemakers' support program aligns with Goal 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), and the Bolnisi Appellation Wine Festival is a project implemented within this framework.
