Blueberry Plantations to Cultivate in Kobuleti

In Kobuleti, in Ochkhamuri, blueberry plantations were cultivated on 17 ha.

The total investment of the project is 1,100,000 GEL. The investment made by the Bank of Georgia is 473,500 GEL. The financial resources allocated to the business were spent on the purchase/cultivation of blueberry seedlings and the arrangement of a refrigeration plant.

The cooperative harvests up to 40 tons, which is realized both in the local market and abroad. Due to the increased demand for blueberries, the cooperative plans to further expand the refrigeration industry, purchase sorting and processing equipment and export the product to Ukraine.

"We are successfully operating in partnership with Bank of Georgia. We are looking for new markets, creating new workplaces. We employ from 60 up to 150 people during blueberry picking season. Since the harvest grows from year to year, we hope to employ much more people.", noted the representative of cooperative, Jambul Dumbadze.
