Berry Farming to Develop in Kobuleti
Another project was implemented with the financial support of Bank of Georgia.
The bank has allocated financial assistance of 336,000 GEL to cultivate bilberry plantations on 12 hectares of the territory, which therefore promoted bilberry farming development in Kobuleti.
The cooperative "Okros Begeli" started to develop bilberry farming in June and has already grown up to 28 tons of bilberries. The cooperative sells production in both local and export markets. The total investment of the project is 1,5 million GEL. Currently, the factory employs 15 people.
"Supporting local production remains one of the main priorities of the Bank of Georgia. For this reason, we expressed interest in supporting the agrarian sector one more time and therefore, promoted the development of berry farming in Kobuleti. We actively continue to support businesses and encourage local entrepreneurs.", noted Merab Akhvlediani, director of mortgage and consumer lending department at Bank of Georgia.
