A Nut-processing Enterprise Opened in Lagodekhi
New hazelnut processing and storage enterprise has been opened in Lagodekhi.
The project was implemented in the village of Tela supported by Agriculture and Rural Development Agency and Georgia Hazelnut Improving Project (G-HIP).
In total, more than 900,000 Lari was invested in the enterprise, of which approximately 500,000 Lari is preferential agro-credit.
16 new workplaces are created in the enterprise. The plant will receive about 200 farmers annually.
The opening of the enterprise was attended by the Deputy Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia together with Director of USAID mission, Peter Wiebler.
"We are cooperating with the Georgian government, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, Agriculture and Rural Development Agency as well as private sector representatives. The farmers and entrepreneurs, which implement investments in such institutions, promote founding appropriate circumstances for hazelnut market, which means receiving the better product, generating more income, and creating more workplaces. Opening a new enterprise is an important step for not only Kakheti but the whole region of the country.", declared Peter Wiebler.
