Baku City Circuit Ready to Host Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

“Baku City Circuit is completely ready to host Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2019,” BCC's Head of Venue Delivery Department Thomas Butcher said during a media tour on the track.

Butcher said that they have been working for three months and now they are ready for the racing. “Formula 1 and International Automobile Federation officials are also ready for the big racing event.”

“We try to organize this year’s event as excellently as we did in the previous years. There were a number of things that needed to be done before the roads were completely blocked. We have set up barriers and doors, and painted them in some places, installed additional barriers for security purposes in the corner sections of the track,” Butcher mentioned.

The Australian specialist said that the teams are busy making their garages ready for the racing. “Since last week, the teams' cargoes have been arriving to Baku via air, land and water transportation. Soon we'll see the pilots here too,” he added.

The 2019 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held on April 26-28.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is one of the longest and narrowest tracks at just 7.6m wide at its narrowest point between the 7th and 8th turns, which are situated along Icheri Sheher (Inner City). The specially constructed street circuit will see F1 cars race around the stunning downtown area of Baku, incorporating its UNESCO-protected old city – Icheri Sheher historical-architectural reserve - as well as its modern skyline and beautiful Caspian Sea promenade.
