Winners of the 11th International Wine Competition Awarded in Tbilisi

26 wines were awarded with Gold Medals at the International Wine Competition held in Tbilisi. In addition, silver medal was awarded to 52 wines and bronze medals to 133 wines.

Over 300 wine samples produced by 81 companies, including large companies, as well as small and family cellars were represented at the competition.

International Wine Competition was held within the frames of  WinExpo Georgia 2019, the 12th International Exhibition of Wine and Spirits.

The winners were awarded by Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Khatia Tsilosani, Chairman of National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla and the jury members.

Jury members also named 5 distinctive wines among Gold Medal winners. Restaurateurs have also named their favorite wines at the competition. Foreign jury members made positive assessments about the fact that high number of young winemakers were present in the competition this year, and also welcomed the activity of female winemakers in the wine industry.

Competition jury was composed of masters of wine, oenologists and international experts and wine professionals. This year's jury was represented by the jury chairperson: Tim Atkin (UK), Master of Wine - Kenichi Ohashi, (Japan), Master of Wine- Alistair Cooper (UK), wine expert - Marcelo Retamal (Chile), master sommelier - Matthew Robert Wilkin (UK) Oenologist - Mikheil Meskhi (Georgia), Wine Expert - Giorgi Dakishvili (Georgia) and wine expert Nika Aghdgomelashvili (Georgia).

International Exhibition of Wine and Spirits WinExpo Georgia 2019 in held on June 13-15 at the exhibition center "Expo-Georgia". It is the largest exhibition in the Caucasian region, where all the components of wine and alcohol production are presented - viticulture and winemaking machinery, fertilizers, saplings, tare and packaging materials, accessories and a wide range of services. About 160 companies from 12 countries are participating in the exhibition.

Official supporters of WinExpo Georgia are the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and National Wine Agency.
