Struggling Wine Industry- Sales Fell by 10-15% in Georgia

The wine industry is struggling. The Minister of Agriculture told reporters that the pandemic had reduced wine sales by 10-15%.

"We had meetings with representatives of wine companies, entrepreneurs, and viticulturists. No wonder that due to the pandemic, tourism-related sectors, including the wine sector, have some difficulties with sales.

Export sales in some markets have declined. The Horeca sector - hotels, restaurants, cafes, where the product is delivered directly, due to the pandemic, was in fact closed both in the leading countries of Europe and in our neighborhood.

This factor was reflected in wine sales. Our sales have decreased by about 10-15% compared to the previous year's record, ”Levan Davitashvili said.
