Nearly 100,000 Tonnes of Grapes Processed in Kakheti as of 28 September

As of 28 September, nearly 100,000 tonnes of grapes had been processed in Kakheti, according to the National Wine Agency.

Approximately 7,000 grape growers in Kakheti have sold their harvest. Of the grapes processed so far, nearly 70,000 tonnes were classified as high quality, while only 0.7% were of poor quality and unripe.

The grape harvest in Kakheti is at its peak, with nearly 14,000 tonnes processed over the preceding 24 hours.

The state-owned Harvest Management Company is accepting grapes from growers at 22 locations. To ensure an orderly harvest and the sale of the entire crop, the Georgian government has decided that, in the event of a surplus, all grape growers will have the opportunity to sell their grapes. For this purpose, Harvest Management Company LLC is purchasing grapes grown in Kakheti from individual growers under the following conditions:

Saperavi grapes with a sugar content of at least 20% are purchased at GEL 1.50 per kilogram. Those with a sugar content between 16% and 20% are purchased at GEL 1.00 per kilogram, while those below 16% are purchased at GEL 0.50 per kilogram.

For Rkatsiteli and other wine grapes, the purchase price is GEL 1.30 per kilogram for a sugar content of at least 19%, GEL 0.90 per kilogram for a sugar content between 16% and 19%, and GEL 0.50 per kilogram for a sugar content below 16%.
