National Wine Agency to Celebrate Georgia’s Independence Day in Ambrolauri Under the Theme “Georgia – The Homeland of Wine”
On May 26, Georgia’s Independence Day, the National Wine Agency will present the concept “Georgia – The Homeland of Wine” in Ambrolauri, highlighting the country’s unique wine culture and centuries-old winemaking traditions.
“Georgia’s Independence Day is one of the most important national celebrations. It is especially meaningful that the National Wine Agency will host visitors in the Racha-Lechkhumi region, a truly unique viticulture and winemaking area. The region still has significant untapped potential and considerable opportunities for further development,” said Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.
The event will take place on the territory of Ambrolauri’s new boulevard, where a specially arranged festive space will feature visual and informational displays dedicated to the history and traditions of Georgian wine and vine culture. Local winemakers and entrepreneurs will host visitors, while children will be able to enjoy educational and entertainment activities in a dedicated family-friendly area. The program will also include performances by local folklore ensembles.
Traditionally, at 17:10, the historic moment marking the declaration of Georgia’s independence will be commemorated. The ensemble Suliko will perform the Georgian national anthem as part of the official celebration.
“This year is particularly special, as we celebrate the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion of Georgia. For 1,700 years, faith has strengthened us, and love has united us,” Levan Mekhuzla noted.
The Independence Day celebrations in Ambrolauri will conclude with a gala concert in the evening.
In addition, events dedicated to May 26 will be organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in the cities of Rustavi and Poti.
