Government Announces 50-Million-GEL Simplified Procurement for Subsidizing 2021 Vintage
The State Procurement Agency has announced a simplified purchase worth GEL 50 million. Namely, the state-owned LLC Harvest Management Company will directly buy grapes from Kakheti winegrowers and make wine materials and brandy spirits.
According to the 2021 revised budget, the Government will subsidize the 2021 vintage by a record amount – GEL 138.4 million. Consequently, winegrowers in Kakheti and Racha Regions will receive substantial financial incomes in 2021.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2015-2020, the Government spent GEL 212 million on subsidization of winegrowers and purchased 285,000 tons of grapes, including the government, purchased 95,000 tons worth GEL 87.1 million in 2020. As a result, state-owned companies have made brandy spirits and wine materials worth GEL 239 million.
