German Master of Wine: Western Georgia's Distinct Climate Makes It Possible to Produce Completely Different Wine Styles

With the support of the National Wine Agency and organized by the Agency's German marketing contractor ff.k Public Relations, German Master of Wine and content creator Konstantin Baum visited Georgia, where he toured wineries and wine companies in the Imereti region.

Konstantin Baum is the creator of one of the world's most popular wine-focused YouTube channels, with more than 200,000 subscribers and millions of views. His visit is expected to further raise awareness of Georgian wine among wine professionals and consumers alike. Although Baum has visited Georgia several times before, this was his first visit to the Imereti region.

"I had never been to western Georgia before, so it was fascinating to discover this part of the country and taste its wines in the very terroirs where they are produced. It is truly impressive to see how diverse Georgia is. Thanks to its different climatic conditions, western Georgia has the potential to produce wines of completely different styles. Higher rainfall and distinct temperature patterns give these wines remarkable freshness, vibrant character, and unique aromatic profiles. It was also very interesting to visit wineries of different sizes and to see the tremendous potential that Imereti has for the future," said Konstantin Baum.

Germany is Europe's largest wine-importing and wine-consuming market. As a result of the National Wine Agency's ongoing promotional activities and its consistent cooperation with Georgian wine producers, exports of Georgian wine to Germany continue to grow. During the January–June period of this year, Georgia exported nearly 784,000 liters of wine to Germany, representing a 22% increase compared to the same period last year.
