Georgian Wine Chain 8000 Vintages Debuts in Berlin
The globally appreciated Georgian wine is now making a leap onto the international stage as "8000 Vintages," a beloved chain of Georgian wine stores and bars, unveils its first overseas branch in Berlin. Situated at Großbeerenstraße 27a in the vibrant district of Kreuzberg, this new venture is a testament to the growing popularity of Georgian wines.
Illuminating the selection process, the founder explains that the wines available in the stores are carefully chosen through a confidential tasting procedure by a specialized commission. Whether in Georgia or Germany, customers have the option of purchasing the wine to take home or savouring it on-premises, paired with expertly curated dishes.
The Berlin store has launched with an impressive roster of 230 different wine varieties, a number that is set to grow to an astounding 500-600 by September. Contributing to this mission are the 140 committed members of the 8000 Vintages team, including 15 associates located in Berlin.
Taking note of Germany's position as the world's top consumer of imported wine - a statistic that Berlin particularly contributes to - Irakli Chkhaidze, a spokesperson for 8000 Vintages, has explained their decision to kickstart international expansion from this city. Their primary goal is to acquaint Berlin's residents with Kvevri wine and other Georgian varieties, hoping to generate a deep-rooted appreciation for them.
The overarching mission of 8000 Vintages is clear: to ignite a global passion for excellent Georgian wine and ensure its widespread availability. In alignment with this vision, the company is set on maintaining its growth trajectory, both internationally and within Georgia. As part of its commitment to the local market, plans for another shop-bar in Georgia are already on the horizon for 2024.
Founded in 2016, 8000 Vintages operates five stores in Georgia, with four located in the capital city of Tbilisi, and one in the seaside city of Batumi.
