British Journalists Visit Georgia with Support from the National Wine Agency

A 12-member group comprising representatives of influential British wine media and members of Swirl Wine Group visited Georgia on a tour organised by the National Wine Agency and its contractor, Swirl Wine Group. The visit aimed to raise awareness of Georgian wine and support export growth in the UK market.

The British wine professionals visited Georgian wine companies and wineries in Kartli and Kakheti, where they explored the centuries-old history, culture, and traditions of Georgian winemaking and tasted Georgian wines in a variety of styles.

The group included representatives of the Daily Mail, Decanter, The Guardian, BBC Radio, Wine Telegrams, and other media outlets.

The United Kingdom is one of Europe’s largest wine importers and consumers. Since 2014, it has emerged as a strategic market with significant growth potential for Georgian wine exports.

To strengthen Georgian wine’s presence in the UK market, the National Wine Agency has worked with Swirl Wine Group LTD, the company led by Master of Wine Sarah Abbott, since 2015.

During the first eight months of this year, Georgia exported nearly 268,000 litres of wine to the United Kingdom, a 37% increase compared with the same period last year.
