99.3% of the 121,000 Tonnes of Grapes Processed in Kakheti Are of High or Medium Quality

As of 30 September, 99.3% of the 121,000 tonnes of grapes processed in Kakheti were classified as high or medium quality, while only 0.7% were of poor quality and unripe, according to the National Wine Agency. High- and medium-quality grapes totalled 120,054 tonnes, while unripe and poor-quality grapes amounted to 946 tonnes.

Approximately 9,000 grape growers in Kakheti have sold their harvest. The state-owned Harvest Management Company LLC is accepting grapes from growers at 21 locations across various municipalities in the region.

The grape harvest in Kakheti is at its peak. This year’s projected harvest is approximately 320,000 tonnes.

To ensure an orderly harvest and the sale of the entire crop, the Georgian government has decided that, in the event of a surplus, all grape growers will have the opportunity to sell their grapes. For this purpose, Harvest Management Company LLC is purchasing grapes grown in Kakheti from individual growers under the following conditions:

Saperavi grapes with a sugar content of at least 20% are purchased at GEL 1.50 per kilogram. Those with a sugar content between 16% and 20% are purchased at GEL 1.00 per kilogram, while those below 16% are purchased at GEL 0.50 per kilogram.

For Rkatsiteli and other wine grapes, the purchase price is GEL 1.30 per kilogram for a sugar content of at least 19%, GEL 0.90 per kilogram for a sugar content between 16% and 19%, and GEL 0.50 per kilogram for a sugar content below 16%.
