Wintertime in Georgia: Dreamy Places to Visit

Summer might be an official hiking season, but winter has its charm. It is a wonderful time to get away from home and get cozy in places that are much less crowded and enjoy snowy landscapes. Here are some of the dreamy places you can visit in Georgia during winter: 

Bakhmaro 

Bakhmaro is a mountainous resort in Guria, which has a healing climate and is known for its beautiful nature. Bakhmaro is located 52 km from Chokhatauri. Bakhmaro has a healing climate due to the mixed sea and mountain climate. A warm sea breeze blows in the open valley. The air is constantly transparent and clean. Winters are moderately mild, although the snow cover is quite large, sometimes reaching 4-5 meters. 

Mestia

People often offer Mestia as Georgia’s Switzerland. It’s a beautiful town that has two ski trails - Hatsvali and Tetnuldi.Tetnuldi ski track is the longest in Transcaucasia (9.5 km). The resort is located near the town of Mestia, but you will need your own car or rent to get to the resort. The season here is quite long and the quality of the snow is also quite high.

Batumi

When Batumi gets snow, it’s the dreamiest place to see. It is breathtaking to see how white cover of snow meets the sea. Besides, you can enjoy cozy cafes around the town. 

Bakuriani 

Bakuriani is a famous mountain resort in Georgia, where you can enjoy winter sports.Travelers visit the resort in other seasons due to its healing properties and mountainous nature. Ski slopes of Bakuriani are: Kokhta-Gora, Tatra, Didveli, 25s, Mitarbi. Apart from skiing in Bakuriani, you can try ice skating, horseback riding, or riding a topogan. 

Goderdzi 

Goderdzi is located in Mountainous Adjara. You can get to the resort by your own off-road car or rent a minivan with a driver. Take a note that often the short road from Tbilisi through Akhaltsikhe is closed. In this case you will have to arrive in Batumi and travel from there, which is about three hours.

There are ski slopes that will only belong to you and a few other people. The total length of the ski slopes is 8 kilometers and the snow is of high quality. You have plenty of time to decide on visiting Goderdzi, since the snowy season here lasts a long time.
