Our Favorite Pictures of Wild Animals Captured at Georgian National Parks
Camera traps installed at Georgian National Parks give us a look into the secret life of wildlife. We wanted to share some of our favorite moments captured by the Agency of Protected Areas.
As of 2021, the total area of protected areas is 793,351 ha, which is 11.38% of the country's territory. Georgia (according to IUCN criteria) has 93 protected areas of 5 different categories, namely: 14 state reserves, 13 national parks, 40 natural monuments, 23 protected areas and 3 protected landscapes.
The fauna of Georgia is represented by more than 100 species of mammals, 330 kinds of birds and 160 varieties of fishes.
The fauna of woods is the richest. In many areas you can meet the Caucasian deer, the roebuck, the wild boar, the hare, the squirrel, the brown bear, the wolf, the jackal, the badger, the lynx, and the fox.
