Number of Tourists Exceed 8 Million within 10 Months

According to the National Tourism Administration, as of October 2019, 782 670 international travelers visited Georgia, the figure is 8.8% up y-o-y.

The number of international visitors has made up 665 055, which is 8.8% more than in 2018, while the number of tourist visits has been 438 805, which is 7.8% higher comparing to 2018.

As of January-October 2019, number of international travelers to Georgia exceeded the historic 8 million in 10 months for the first time and reached 8 020 230. The increase is 6.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The number of visits made by international visitors amounted to 6 647 866 (the increase of 6.2%), while the number of tourist visits was 4 429 601 (the increase of 6%).

As of October 2019, there were 118 252 international visits from Russia to Georgia, which was 21 114 visits or 15.2% less than the same period of 2018. Including, the number of tourist visits was 79 477, which is 28 170 visits or 26.2% less than in 2018.

As of 10 months of 2019, the number of visitors from Russia during this period amounted to 1 324 226, which is 6% more than in 2018. Among them, the number of tourist visits was 984 533 or 1.9% more compared to 2018.

Despite some declining of growth rates in recent months, positive trends still have remained in tourism.

Visitor flow from the EU member states:

• Estonia + 79.1%, France + 51.4%, Germany + 43.6%, Poland + 43%, United Kingdom + 31% and others.

Particular growth was recorded from the following countries:

• Kazakhstan + 139.4%, Kyrgyzstan + 66.7%, China + 58.9%, Israel + 56.9%, Saudi Arabia + 44.9% and others.

Most international visitors:

• Armenia (+ 12.7%), Azerbaijan (+ 7.7%), Russia (-15.2%) and Turkey (+ 16.9%).
