Georgian Travel Guide on Domestic Tourism and Supporting Local Businesses

Georgian Travel Guide is founded by travelers with the desire to share the exciting places all around Georgia they've experienced. It's a comprehensive platform on sites in Georgia to make traveling around in Georgia as easy and fun as possible.

Since the pandemic affected tourism the most, we had a conversation with Georgian Travel Guide co-founders to see how was their year and how people adjusted to the new reality.

According to them, Georgian Travel Guide met the second year of the pandemic in hopes of relatively better expectations.

''We had a more or less clear picture of how we would operate in a regulatory environment than in the previous year. The deterioration of the country's pandemic background and restrictions on international traffic during the year has put a significant strain on the tourism sector and most companies have switched mainly to domestic tourism.

Our company has strengthened its support for domestic tourism: we held a raffle #GettoKnowGeorgia, which aimed to introduce the population of Georgia to the tourist facilities and interesting places in the country.

We worked more actively on the development of the electronic platform and the hosts started to sell travel services, rent out a cottage/hotel, or transport with our help. We have tripled the number of tourist offers presented on the platform. To help the hosts we kept the service fee to a minimum. This fee is at least twice as low as any international analog.

We continue to support guides and offer free public profiles through which they can introduce themselves professionally to travelers and establish themselves in the online space. This became especially relevant after some companies stopped operating,'' said the founders of Georgian Travel Guide in a conversation with CBW.

Georgian Travel Guide continues to work actively to digitize tourism and support hosts. The company's goal is to empower hosts and the sector with the help of a tourism e-commerce platform.
