Sarkev: Beautiful Decorative Mirrors Made by Young Georgian Couple
Not so long ago, trendy mirrors appeared on social media that attracted interior design-lovers. Sarkev is a series of handmade mirrors made with love. CBW had an interview with Gvantsa Turmanidze to take a look at the backstage:
Since Sarkev is founded by a young couple, it must have an interesting backstory how you started your business.
I met my spouse 3 years ago, after some time I realized that he was quite handy. He literally did not need an assistant to repair the furniture, repair damaged items or much more. I often told him that he had to start his own business, since he had all the resources for that. During the pandemic we had a lot of free time to discuss ideas, to compile projects.
How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
We started a family 6 months ago, we wanted to start a business together, but we still had not decided what we would do, what we would produce.
At the end of 2020, when my sister was finishing her room renovation, we wanted to give her a mirror to decorate her new room. However, it turned out not so simple. We came across quite expensive mirrors on the market that still could not fully meet our requirements. So we decided to make a mirror with our own hands, which would be modern, very sophisticated and, most importantly, exactly what we were looking for.
What was one of the challenges of starting your company?
We liked our first mirror, we made the next model for our house, which deserved even more approval. It turned out to be difficult to make a decision to turn our hobby into a business, however due to the interest of friends, relatives we decided to make trendy mirrors. We did not think much about the name of our brand and named it Sarkev (Eng:mirror).
What’s your main goal you try to achieve with your customers?
We aimed to eliminate the difficulties we encountered in the mirror search process, and to offer our customers modern, sophisticated design mirrors that were affordable for everyone. Most importantly, we prepare every detail with love and all the attention.
Tell us about your creative process, what technique do you use to create mirrors?
My husband and I have our own tasks. I manage social Media, design selection and ordering processes. Enro is responsible for manufacturing and other technical aspects. So far, we make mirrors at home. We try to deliver the orders to the addressees throughout Batumi and to have closer communication with the customers.
Do you have new projects coming up?
We want to expand our business in the future, create a small enterprise where we will be able produce mirrors. We will have a wider range and more space to work. It's been 21 days since we have appeared in social networks and our page already has more than 1200 likes, which is a great motivation for us to create many more interesting models. Mirrors have become a symbol of our love. I think family idyll will make our venture even more successful.
