Vilnius City Dance Theater to Perform at Marjanishvili Theater

Two performances will be presented by Vilnius City Dance Theatre, Low Air at the main stage of Marjanishvili Theatre on June 25th and 26th in the frames of Tbilisi Contemporary Dance & Experimental Art Festival showcase program.

FEEL-LINK | June 25th, 20:00

Airida Gudaitė and Laurynas Žakevičius represent a new generation of Lithuanian dancers and choreographer. ”Feel-Link” explores their relationship as a couple as they use gritty free urban dance to express their emotions towards each other.

”Feel-Link” was the first urban/hip-hop dance production in Lithuania and on its debut was nominated for the prestigious Lithuanian Golden Stage Cross theatre awards (for Best Debut of the Year) and they were awarded that competition’s Best Choreographers the following year.

”Feel-Link” features an evocative electronica soundtrack that ultimately gives way to the passion and sophisticated rawness of Nina Simone’s Feelings as the dancers engage in a seemingly endless cycle of repressed feelings that ultimately come to an astonishing conclusion.

Duration: 40’
Idea, choreography and dance: Laurynas Žakevičius and Airida Gudaitė
Scenography: Renata Valčik
Lighting design: Eugenijus Sabaliauskas, Povilas Laurinaitis
Music: James Blake, Claro Intelecto, Nina Simone.

Game Over | June 26th, 20:00

It’s been a century since a writer who created the rules of games with imagination Julio Cortázar was born.

Inspired by the author, Urban Dance Theatre Low Air presents an innovative live dance installation which connects both visual and dance art.

The performance revolves around game perspective, inviting the audience to witness the collision of reality and dreams. The spectator feels as in particular situation, considers a relationship with others and themselves. Subtle feelings interfere with fiction and magic, while becoming an inevitable element of movement and view.

Cortázar has this magical realism which inspired artists’ imagination for a long time. Writer’s stories particularly vivid, and they have become a map for our motion and choreography, along with the possible storyline for the dream and reality.

For this newest piece young professionals have teamed – set designer Lauryna Liepaite, lighting designer Povilas Laurinaitis, musician Adas Gecevicius, dancers Airida Gudaite and Laurynas Zakevicius. Though everyone worked as directors and choreographers during the creative process, on the stage we see just two dancers and live music show.
