Tbilisi Photo Festival Holds Event - Subtropical Cultures

The event organized by Tbilisi Photo Festival “Subtropical Cultures” will be held on April 15, at 18:00 PM at the Tbilisi Photography and Multimedia Museum.

During the event the invited speaker will be Paata Zakareishvili.

The presentation combines the works of Georgian artists participating in art residencies, including:
Tiko Imnadze
Mariam Aqubardia, Guram Sakvarelidze
Anastasia Akhvlediani
Tamar Kalandadze
Sandro Pachuashvili
Mari Kalagebashvili
Qeu Meparishvili
Elene Shengelia, Basa Metreveli

When visual arts become a channel for dialogue and intercultural cooperation between conflicting parties, alternative ways of building trust also emerge.

“Subtropical Cultures: A Platform for Artistic Exchanges” is the first long-term project uniting Georgian and Abkhaz artists. Along with new professional and educational opportunities, the project also provided an intellectual basis for improved understanding among Georgian and Abkhaz artists and reflection on existing stereotypical narratives prevailing in both societies.

Artists took part in two art residency programmes: “In the Shadow of the Big Trees” and “The Storm in Our Seas” mentored by Nikita Kadan and Justyna Mielnikiewicz.

Location: Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum, 14 M. Kostava str., Stamba Hotel, D block, II floor.

Entrance is free of charge.
