Tbilisi Night of Photography Hits the City with 11th Edition

Despite the post-pandemic period, Tbilisi Photo Festival and its central event - the Tbilisi Night of Photography comes back for an 11th edition. 

This special edition will be hosted by Stamba Hotel, a former Soviet printing house converted into a design hotel and a new landmark of the Georgian capital.

On September 12, from 20.00 to 00.00, the public will not only have the chance to discover the best of contemporary photography but also have access to secret corners of this historical building.

"The programme of the Night of Photography 2020, showcasing an exclusive and outstanding selection of international and local photographers, will be presented on 9 screens set in yet undiscovered venues of Stamba.

The best of American photography will be featured on 2 screens, gathering an eclectic selection.

The public will be offered a glance at the United States from the early ’30s to nowadays through the eyes of over 10 American and non-American photographers of Magnum Photos (Eve Arnold, Leonard Freed, Elliott Erwitt, Alec Soth - to name just a few of them) in the special program “Magnum: Made in USA”. NOOR IMAGES - leading agency of photojournalists, will also showcase the works of its American photographers including the legendary Stanley Greene.

For the first time since the beginnings of the Night of Photography, the prestigious Leica will present in the programme the finalist and shortlisted photographers of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2019. Emerging contemporary Mexican photography will be highlighted by the selection of Centro de la Imagen. The platform Women in Photo will present a group of international women photographers unveiling through different approaches hidden aspects of women’s lives all over the globe. The dynamic Contemporary Belgium photography will also be part of the program.

Georgian Photography will be presented with iconic photographers from the early 20’s - Nino Jorjadze and Gigo Gabashvili while the New Georgian Photography will be showcased throughout the works of stars of New Wave, including David Meskhi, Giorgi Nebieridze and Saba Gorgodze.

Angkor Photo Festival, Lensculture and Kaunas Photo Gallery, traditional participants of the Night of Photography will also be present for this special edition.

In order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection (COVID-19), to attend the 11th edition of Tbilisi Photo Festival visitors should follow our recommendations:
- Visitors should wear masks in enclosed spaces and keep social distance;
- Visitors will pass through thermal screening before entering the event venues of Stamba Hotel and the Tbilisi Photography and Multimedia Museum;
- The full program of the Festival will be available only in digital format - mobile APP, QR code placed in venues, festival website, social media channels;
- Festival organizers and volunteers will control visitors to follow the above mentioned recommendations.
