"Noon is the Time for Butterflies" - Guram Tsibakhashvili's Photo Exhibition

Noon is the time for butterflies while the living organisms gradually disappear in the ecosystem about to go extinct, and spaces resemble post-human landscapes; the ephemeral but organic connection between a human and the environment undergoes an irreversible transformation.

Noon is the time for butterflies while in accelerated modernity, the time is a rare luxury for observation; a person's attitude towards a photographic image is unequivocally determined by self-centered passions when the gaze is directed only towards oneself.

In the reality of accelerated time, variable landscapes and irreversible changes in the environment, Guram Tsibakhashvili's Noon is the time for butterflies consists of images which more than just photographic series, they are the artist’s attempt to create an alternative ecosystem. With the intention of doing so, the author connects living organisms and images, everything goes through a circle of life: observation as an act of cognition, photographing living organisms as an inevitable artistic act, and creating memories of them. Through these organic stages, collecting butterflies, beetles, and grasshoppers wing-to-wing, limb-to-limb, flowers, plants, and grasses stem-to-leaf, leaf-to-leaf, organisms are captured by photographic images and placed in reliable storage of memory.

Guram Tsibakhashvili creates his own ecosystem. This way he prolongs the history of living organisms, where noon is the time for butterflies.
