8mm & 16mm Filmmaking Workshop with Baltic Analog Lab to Take Place in Tbilisi
Magnolia Film Lab has teamed up with Baltic Analog Lab to offer a weeklong workshop in 16mm and 8mm filmmaking with Latvian filmmaker Ieva Balode.
"Participants will be working in small teams throughout the week to produce original short films. At the end of the workshop you'll be able to present your films on the rooftop of Fabrika, the beating heart of Tbilisi's vibrant artist community.
Ieva Balode (Riga, Latvia) is an artist and film activist. She's a founding member of Baltic Analog Lab, an artists collective and platform for analog film production, research, and education in Riga. She's designed this workshop as an introduction to film format for beginners as well as those who are familiar with analog film, so don't worry if you've never tried it before.
The workshop will provide the film and various cameras, as well as give an insight into analog editing and projecting. This is your chance to learn hand processing in the darkroom using lomo tanks and film chemistry – both negative
as well as positive.
Ieva will also work with us on experimental narration, using creative shooting, editing, processing and different storytelling techniques.
Workshop includes all materials, cameras, projectors, film, chemicals for developing, and a few cold beers to boot.", is written in the description of the workshop, which will take place in Tbilisi from June 15th till June 21.
The workshop is available for only 15 participants. The cost of the project is 120 Euros.
