The Ministry of Internal Affairs Announces Release of All Individuals Held in Administrative Detention
According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all 133 individuals who were being held in administrative custody were released following a protest that occurred in the vicinity of Parliament on March 7th and 8th.
Some of the detainees were brought before a court, while the remaining individuals were released after the expiration of their term in pre-trial detention. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to investigate the violent events that occurred during the protest under Articles 353 and 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, and investigative activities are being conducted to identify and arrest those responsible for attacking police officers and engaging in other violent acts during the ongoing protest rally near the Parliament building.
