State Agricultural Insurance Program Compensates Losses Exceeding ₾67 Million
For the past nine years, the state agricultural insurance program has been successfully running and constantly improving, as announced by the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, during his speech in the "Minister's Hour" format in the Parliament. The program offers equal opportunities to all farmers and individuals interested in agribusiness.
To further aid vineyard farmers, the agro-insurance program has increased its co-financing from 50% to 70% for grape crop insurance in high-risk regions. This change is intended to attract insurance companies to the program and make crop insurance affordable for vineyard farmers.
Since the program's inception in 2014, over 65,000 beneficiaries have insured up to 140,000 hectares of land, with compensated losses exceeding ₾67 million. This program has been a great help for farmers who face the constant risk of crop failure due to natural disasters and other uncontrollable factors.
Thanks to the state agricultural insurance program, farmers have been able to take calculated risks in their businesses, knowing that they have a safety net to fall back on. As a result, agriculture has become a more attractive and stable industry for individuals to invest in.
