Solomon Pavliashvili Participates in the IAEA’s 70th General Conference

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili and Nino Utiashvili, Head of the Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety, are participating in the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Held in Vienna, the General Conference is the organisation’s principal annual forum for its member states. It reviews the agency’s main areas of activity, sets policy priorities, and addresses issues related to the peaceful use of nuclear technologies, nuclear and radiation safety, and international cooperation.

Representatives from more than 150 member states are participating in the IAEA’s 70th General Conference.

“Close and constructive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency is particularly important for Georgia. With the IAEA’s support, numerous projects are being implemented in the country, helping strengthen our capabilities in nuclear and radiation safety, introduce modern standards, and develop professional expertise. Sharing experience with international partners and further strengthening regional ties are important priorities for us,” said Solomon Pavliashvili.

As part of the General Conference, the Georgian delegation is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings, including with IAEA representatives who provide significant support to Georgia through technical cooperation projects.

The meetings will address opportunities to strengthen regional cooperation, mechanisms for exchanging information and experience, and the development of joint educational programmes and training courses.
